Studio 2 Street: Designing Art Exhibitions with Emerging Artists.
For emerging artists the move from studio to “gallery” is the leap of faith that announces, “I have something to say.” In order to start the conversation, the artist must engage the viewer. The individual artists in Studio 2 Street are ready to take their art to the streets but need your help to mount individual and group exhibitions in and around the greater South Bay/Los Angeles area.
Our first exhibition is a group show scheduled at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles on October 26-28 through November 2-4. Crafted is a new space for artists to work and showcase their art. Crafted is open free to the public Friday through Sunday 11:00am to 6:00pm. Parking is $5.00. We will be exhibiting a variety of art ranging from painting, photography, mixed media, and relational aesthetics.
On Tuesday, October 30 our second exhibition will involve artists and the audience in creating masks in anticipation of Halloween. We will be at the Airliner located at 2419 N. Broadway, Los Angeles 90031. The Airliner hosts Blank Tuesdays, an evening of art, music, and performance, and drink specials. The cover charge is $5.00 with your school ID. (Must be 18 and over).
On December 6, our final group exhibition will take place at Sacred Grounds Coffee House, 468 W. 6th Street, San Pedro 90731.
Finally, several artists are organizing individual exhibitions to showcase their own or other artists’ work. These exhibitions will launch individual artists out of their studio and onto the street.
Your contribution will help us cover the costs of renting space, framing works, printing photographs, purchasing film, paying for darkroom time/chemicals, creating catalogs, etc. Your generous contribution will enable us to take our art from the studio 2 the street
